State which of the following situations are possible and give
an example for each of these:
(a) an object with a constant acceleration but with zero velocity
(b) an object moving in a certain direction with an acceleration

(a) is not possible because when a object accelerates it's due to change in velocity.

As there is zero velocity the accelaration will be zero.

(b) is possible because The object can move in a certain path with a perpendicular acceleration, in the case of circular motion. ... So when the object in the circular motion, the velocity and accelerations are in a mutually perpendicular direction.
