It’s not like that 'arteries carry oxygenated blood & veins carry deoxygenated blood'. Arteries are 'which carry blood away from heart' & veins are 'which carry blood towards heart.' In case u haven't noticed that aorta which carries deoxygenated blood from right ventricle of heart to lungs and pulmonary veins which carry oxygenated blood from alveoli (basic functional units of lungs) to left atrium of heart.
