When current flows in a conductor heat is generated. This heat is given by,
H = I²Rt
The current is just flow of electron in a conductor under the influence of electric field. These electron have high kinetic energy in them. They face some resistance due to the conductor particles These electron when collides with the particles of conductor transfer their kinetic energy to them which is converted to heat energy.
Hence kinetic energy is being converted to heat energy which is in accordance with the rule of conservation of energy.
