Statement-1 : LiCl is predominantly a covalent compound.

Statement-2 : Electronegativity difference between Li and

Cl is too small

- Statement 1 is true as LiCl is predominantly a covalent compound

-Statement 2 is false as there is a very big difference between the electrobegativity of lithium and chlorine.

-lithium is highly elctropositive and chlorine is highly electronegative

- the covalent character of LiCl is due to the small size of Lithium cation which causes strong polarisation and hence results in more covalent character
