Answer:

The 20th century saw dramatic innovations in musical forms and styles. Composers and songwriters explored new forms and sounds that challenged the previously accepted rules of music of earlier periods, such as the use of altered chords and extended chords in 1940s-era Bebop jazz.

Answer:

It could be because of the influence of radio, television, and movies. Prior to the great movie musicals, music was primarily used as a piano accompaniment for silent films. There was no need to record programmes prior to the development of broadcast radio. There was no need for large-scale record reproduction prior to the gramophone disc*, and this was greatly increased once electric recording became available. Musical films required popular music, whereas film soundtracks required a more classical approach.

Explanation:

Jazz evolved from its early 'traditional' form into the many forms we know today by being extended, developed, and diversified. It was also how many musicians found work, such as in the dance bands of the 1920s and the development of the big bands of the late 1930s. Following WWII, big bands became unwieldy and expensive to maintain, giving rise to the 1950s solo singers and instrumentalists. Since the 1960s, when records began to be released with accompanying video support, television has played an increasingly important role.

Many great composers in the more "classical" mould rose to prominence throughout the twentieth century. Here are a few examples: Copland, Gershwin, Ives, Barber, Bax, Vaughan Williams, Delius, and other composers
