             Statement of Purpose

I believe this about nursing: that we can truly change the world.  Nurses see patients at the most vulnerable times in their lives. As an advocate, nurses can improve the outcomes of their patient’s illness. I had my first asthma attack at seven years old and it was the scariest moment of my life.  At that moment I thought I was going to die, I had never felt so helpless. That first experience with the power of asthma set the stage for my career ambitions of becoming a pediatric allergist.  I want to be a nurse because it will allow me to have more personal and influential relationships with my patients. Recently a visit to the hospital also made me realize how important the work of a nurse is.

My favourite subject is biology and it would be greater for me to learn more in this field by enrolling myself on a nursing course where I learn more of my interest along with serving people and doing deeds without the greed of anything in return.

My goals in this field are gaining clinical skills, becoming specialized or certified, and getting furthering my education.

One of the greatest ways to set a goal is to remember to be S.M.A.R.T. about it, which is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. Each goal and milestone you set should fit the five categories of S.M.A.R.T. goal setting. And I have all prepared for my career in nursing.

I am honoured to have the opportunity to be applying for the Nursing Program (B.Sc.) offered by Keele University, UK. I come from humble origins having been raised by a single mother. My mother is my inspiration in wanting to become a nurse. She has been a surgical nurse for over 20 years now and it is her dedication and dexterity in her work that motivated me to follow in her footsteps.

It is my ambition to become a surgical nurse in the future and assist surgeons in the most critical surgeries. I look forward to playing a part in bringing back patients with even the most severe health conditions. It is imperative for me to obtain a quality education in order to achieve this dream of mine. Therefore I would be delighted to be offered a place in the Graduate Nursing Program offered by your institute.
