Stations A and B are 587 km apart. One train starts from A to B and at the same time
another train which is 18 km/h faster starts from B to A along a parallel track. If after 3 and a half hour the distance between both the trains is 34 km, find the speed of each of the trains.

Acc. To me,

Answer is 70 km/h and 88 km/h

------------------------------------------------------------

Suppose train A at A and train B at B

A----------------------------------B

|--------587Km------------------|

----->                           <------

v                                  v+18

After (3and 1/2 hr) or 7/2 hr

A--------------°-------------------°---------------------B

                  ∧|-----34km---|∧

                   |                       |

                 trainA               trainB

|---X-----------||-----34---------||----[587-x-34]---|

-X is distance travelled by A after 7/2 hr

-587-x-34=553-x is distance travelled by B

Speed =Distance/time

For Train A

v=x/(7/2)---------1

For train B

v+18=553-x/(7/2)-----------2

put x from 1 to 2

v=70 km/h----First train speed

v+18=88 km/h---2nd train speed

Sorry for bad drawing

I hope it help
