KOCHI: A night survey conducted by Kudumbashree in Kochi corporation limits has found that most of the homelesspeople who sleep on footpaths are from neighbouring states.
The survey also found 273 homeless people in the city. Of this, only 88 people are Malayalis and the rest are from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The survey was conducted for four nights in the first week of August as part of the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) to identify the homeless in the city, and to rehabilitate them under the mission.
It was also found that 29 women are homeless in the city.
