The king came to the hermit because he wanted to know the answers to three questions, namely, 'what is the right time', 'who are the most important people', and 'what is the most important thing to take care of'.

When the king asked these questions to the hermit, he did not respond, rather, he continued to pay attention to digging flowerbeds.

The king helped the hermit by digging the earth. The king after getting no answer from the hermit king decided to go away but he overstayed in hermit's house and the bearded man would have killed the king if he went away. For this digging of beds for the hermit saved the king's life.
