Shehnai is different from Pungi by it's shape. Pungi has shrill, unpleasant sound whereas shehnai has soft and melodious sound.

The shehnai was made by using hallow bamboo pipes with seven holes on it and was played by opening and closing that holes. Secondly it's sound was pleasant.
