Given info : Steam at 140 bar has an enthalpy of 3001.9 kJ/kg
To find : the temperature, specific volume and the internal energy of steam are ...
solution : at 140 bar,
heat of steam is 2642.4 kJ < 3001.9 kJ
it is clear that heat of steam is less than the actual enthalpy of 3001.9 kJ and hence steam is superheated.
from superheat tables, at 140 bar, h = 3001.9 kJ/kg at a temperature of 400°C.
so the temperature of steam is 400°C
specific volume = 0.01722 m³/kg [ from table ]
internal energy = h - pv
= 3001.9 kJ/kg - 140 bar × 0.01722 m³/kg
= 3001.9 - 140 × 10⁵ × 0.01722/10³
= 2760.82 kJ/kg
