Hi mate

Steel sinks but a steel boat floats because of it's mass per unit area.

The steel boat floats as it has large area....

So it floats in water...

steel sinks in water but a steel floats in water because metal it has a density more than that of water, whereas a steel or any other material floats on water because the meatal is hollow and contains air in it, which makes it possible to float.
