This question can be solved in 2 methods.

Method 1:

 Gain % = (Bottles sold/Bottles left) * 100

             = (17 - 16/16) * 100

            = (100/16)

            = 6.25%.

Therefore the Gain percent earned by the dealer = 6.25%.

Method 2:

Let the cost price of 1 bottle = 1.

Then the cost price of 16 water bottles = 16

Selling price of 16 water bottles = 17.

Now,

We know that Gain = Selling price - Cost Price

                                 = 17 - 16

                                 = 1.

We know that Gain% = (Gain * 100)/CP

                                    = (1 * 100)/16

                                    = 6.25%.

Therefore the Gain percent earned by the dealer = 6.25%.

Hope this helps!
