Applications of Step Down Transformer

It can be used to step down the voltage level in transmission line. In welding machines it is used in reducing voltage and increasing current. And it is to be used in televisions, inverters, voltage stabilizers etc.

A transformer that increases the voltage from primary to secondary (more secondary winding turns than primary winding turns) is called a step-up transformer. Conversely, a transformer designed to do just the opposite is called a step-down transformer.
