let R1 = 5ohm, R2 = R3 = 8ohm

First making R2 & R3 a series combination:

1/Rp = 1/R2 + 1/R3

=> 1/Rp = 1/8 + 1/8

=> 1/Rp = 2/8 {taking LCM}

=> 1/Rp = 1/4

=> Rp = 4ohm

(i) Total Resistance , Rs = R1 + Rp

Rs = 5ohm + 4ohm

Rs = 9ohm

(ii) Current flowing through 5ohm resistance will be measured by voltmeter.

The voltmeter reading will be:

I = V/R1

I = 9/5 = 1.8 Ampere or 1.8A

(iii) Current flowing through R1 = 1.8A

Resistance on R1 = 5ohm

Potential difference across

5ohm resistance, V = I × R1

V = 1.8 × 5

V = 9Volt Or 9V
