  • Stereoisomers-molecules that have the same constitution, but different disposition of groups in space.

  • In other words the atoms are connected to each other in the same way, they only differ with respect to relative orientation in three--dimensional space.

Answer :

Isomerism : The phenomenon of existence of two or more compounds processing the same molecular formula but different properties is known Isomerism.

There are two main types of isomerism,

  • Structural isomerism
  • Stereoisomerism

Structural isomerism : Having same molecular formula but different structures.

Stereoisomerism : Having same molecular formula and structure but different configuration, i.e. arrangement of their atoms in space.
