The answer is 3 feet.

GIVEN

Steve has 27 cubic feet of concrete to pave a side walk whose length is 6 times its width. The concrete must be poured 6 inches deep.

TO FIND

The length of the sidewalk.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Let the length of the sidewalk be x

Width of the sidewalk = 6x

Depth of the sidewalk = 6 inches = 0.5 feet

Volume of concrete = 27 cubic feet

Volume of concrete = Volume of the sidewalk

6x \times x \times 0.5 = 27

3x² = 27

x² = 27/3 = 9

x = 3 feet

Hence, The answer is 3 feet.
