Heat generated due to friction = 235.6 W

Explanation:

Given:

Load = Work = 1 kN = 1000 N

Co-efficient of friction, µ = 0.02

Speed N = 1500 RPM

Shaft diameter d = 150 mm = 0.15 m

Find: Heat generated.

Solution:

Rubbing velocity V = πdN/60

= 22/7 * 0.15 * 1500 / 60

Heat generated due to friction, Qg = µ.W.V

 = 0.02 * 1000 * 11.78

 = 235.6 W
