rhizome - it is a underground modification of stem , non green.it has distinct nodes and internodes.t he nodes bear dry scale leaves with axillary bud. stolon - it is a subaerial modification of stem .it is a weak lateral branch arrive from main stem.a after growing aerially some time it bend down ward to touch ground,where it's terminal bud give rise to new shoot. offset - it is also subaerial modification of stem.it is short runner with one internode long. it originat from leaf axil,grows as a short horizontal branch.o offset are generally found in aquatic plants.
