Explanation:

• Stomach wall secretes inactive pepsinogen

• Pepsinogen must be converted into active pepsin to digest protein

• Pepsin is formed only in acidic environment .For this gastric walls secrete H+ and Cl - ions to form HCl which is an acid

GASTRIC JUICE IS SECREATED BY INNER WALL OF STOMACH .

IT CONTAINS PEPSIN,HCL,MUCUS.

ROLE OF HCL

1.IT MAKE ALKALINE FOOD ACIDIC SO THAT DIGESTION TAKES PLACE EASILY.

2.KILL HARMFUL GERMS WHICH COMES IN WITH OUR FOOD.

AND MUCUS PROTECT STOMACH FROM HCL ACID.

PEPSIN CONVERT PROTEIN INTO PEPTON.....

HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU.
