When is the guard cells recieve water from epidermal cells and become turgid. So they come into kidney shape and a aperture is created between them, through which water is lost and gases are exchanged.
After the guard cells lose water, the shape becomes flaccid or shrunken and aperture between them is closed.
Hope this helps!

Answer:
Stomatal pores in plants regulate the amount of water and solutes within them by opening and closing theirguard cells using osmotic pressure. In order for plants to produce energy and maintain cellular function, their cellsundergo the highly intricate process of photosynthesis. Critical in this process is the stoma.
