Story: What you look for is within you
An old man lived in the village. He was one of the most unfortunate people in the world. He was always gloomy, constantly complained and always was in a bad mood. He created the feeling of unhappiness in others. The whole village was tired of him. They simply left him alone and ignored the grumpy old man.
But one day, when he got eighty years old, an incredible thing happened. Instantly everyone heard the rumour: “The Old Man is happy today. He doesn’t complain about anything, he smiles, and even his face is brightened up”. A miracle has happened. The villagers were surprised and everyone wanted to know what happened to him all of a sudden.
The whole village gathered together.
The old man was asked: "What happened to you?"
"Nothing special." He answered. "Eighty years I’ve been chasing happiness, and it was useless. And then I decided to live without happiness and just enjoy life. That is why I am happy now."
Conclusion: Very often we seek things in the external and visible world. But we cannot find them because they are not out there somewhere but within us. Real joy and happiness, compassion and kindness, gratitude and goodness, contentment and peace of mind can be found only within ourselves, in the depth of our hearts and souls.
