There was a combined family in which six members were there: a boy Toni, his sister Prabha, his father, mother, grandmother and grandfather. On the very next day, it was the birthday of the grandmother. She was turning 75 on that day. The whole family was planning for the celebration. “Grandmother will turn seventy-five tomorrow. What shall we do to celebrate her birthday?” said Toni to the grandfather. The grandfather replied, “It will be a surprise for your grandmother. We will organize a function and birthday cake will be cut”.
“Wow! What a good idea! I’ll also bring some birthday gift for grandma.” said Prabha. “I shall help Toni and Prabha to buy a beautiful gift for the grandma,” said the mother. The father took responsibility for the decoration of the house. Everyone was very excited regarding the celebrations of grandma’s birthday. The very next morning grandma woke up. The whole family was standing before her. She was surprised for this assembly and asked the reason. All the members remained mum for a moment and then shouted loudly altogether ‘Happy Birthday’. Then, all the members celebrated her birthday in the evening. The birthday cake was cut by the grandma. All the family members presented a gift to her. A natural smile came on grandma’s face. One fine day me and my sister happen to share one of the adorable stories in the middle of a family gathering which has been the best moment of our life. To relive the moment, I would like to share the same story with you. The story was about our Grandmother’s 70th birthday.
We are a joint family of six member including our grandparents. It was the 70th of my Grandmother and we planned to celebrate and surprise our grandmother.
My parents woke me and my sister and while my Grandparents were sleeping. We started with the talk of the celebrations of grandmother birthday which was coming the day after tomorrow. We started discussing what could be the plans for grandmother’s birthday.
We made the plan from decorations to gift. We were sure that we are going to give a pleasant surprise to Grandmother this year on her birthday but we had one more task and it was to not let Grandmother know about her birthday celebrations and we have to act like if we never know and have heard about birthday and celebrations. After some time, all our plans were made and we then went to sleep.
The next morning comes and everyone of us were back to our work and we knew that today we have to complete our all work faster so that we have time for the preparation of Grandmother’s birthday.
The next day comes and Grandmother as usual like every year woke up with a different vibe because she knew that it was her birthday the next day and everyone must have planned something or the other to surprise her but she didn’t wanted to ask us about her birthday on her own that what we have planned to surprise her and she knew that if she would ask us then our surprise would get spoiled but even then she was very eager for her surprise and wanted to know what it was so she thought to come to everyone and ask if we remember that tomorrow is special or different from any other day. But every one of us knew that grandmother would be so much curious about her birthday surprise that she will be unable to stop herself and would come to us to ask us about her birthday surprise but we wouldn’t tell her anything regarding the surprise we have planned for her.
Now Grandmother was going to everyone repeatedly and asking about tomorrow without mentioning about her birthday. But we as planned earlier didn’t let her know anything regarding the birthday celebrations and the surprise. Grandmother was now in a dilemma and thinking that if we had really forgotten about her and had no plans regarding her 70th birthday.
It was seven pm in the evening and by then everyone of us completed our daily chores and now we were left to do was to make our Grandmother and Grandfather asleep in order to complete the birthday decoration, setup the cake at right place and make the lights moody. After nearly two hours when Grandmother and Grandfather finally fell asleep. We all together started the decorations as we decided earlier. We bought the decorative items, flowers, table, balloons, and began with the dream birthday setup. Finally, after with some piece of effort, we all completed the decoration and the setup and only thing left to do was to bring the cake and the birthday present we had decided.
So, we bought the cake from the bakery and made its setup. But unfortunately, the birthday present we had decided was taken by someone else which we had already booked in the shop. We even had a talk with the shopkeeper in regard to the birthday present but we came up no satisfying answer in relation to the query. We were all sad because of the birthday present we had decided was extremely special for our grandmother. This is because it was a record player and some records of songs of a famous actor who was our grandmother’s favourite actor and she was also a big fan of his songs.
Grandmother’s Birthday Gift which unfortunately we couldn’t get
But we couldn’t rely on the fact that we had no birthday present for our Grandmother this year. The clock strikes 12 in the night and we all went to the grandmother’s room with a bang and cheered her up and wished her with the 70th birthday wishing. We then went along with Grandmother to the hall, cut the cake, enjoying and celebrating nicely. There was a smile of bliss and slight tears on Grandmother’s face. But then we told her that we couldn’t get her the birthday present we had planned. But Grandmother wasn’t upset and instead was very happy for the surprise we kids had planned for her.
And then we noticed that our Grandfather was here but had gone missing within a milli second. The very next moment we see grandfather standing at the centre of the hall, well dressed like a gentleman. He then grabbed the mic and said “I dedicate this song to the love of my life”. He then plays one of the songs of Grandmother’s favourite actor and started dancing with her exclaiming “No matter what whoever is your favourite actor but I assure you that I was, I am, and I always will be the Romeo of my beautiful and adorable Juliet.”
