Long long ago there was a war between France and England. In this war an English soldier become a prisoner. He was confined in prison for several years. At last the war came to an end and the English soldier was set free. He felt very happy. (He was overwhelmed with joy). He became a free man once more. He came back to England among his dear and near ones.
One day he visited a bird-seller’s shop in a market of London. The sight of the caged birds at once reminded him of his own sufferings in the prison. He bought all the cages full of birds. To the astonishment of the birds-seller and the passers-by he set all the birds free one by one.The bird seller could not conceal his curiosity. He asked the soldier, “Hallow friend, why have you spent so much money for nothing? Why have you released all the birds? (Why have you set the birds free?)” Heaving a deep sigh the soldier replied, “I was a prisoner. I know the pangs of caged life. (I know the agony of captivity). So saying the English soldier left the place.
Moral: A prisoner can feel the agony of captivity.
