Deep in the jungle, there was a big cave and in it there lived a little boy, a lion and an owl. One day, the boy was hiking with his family, when they fell off a cliff. He was saved by a lion and an owl. They did this together, by the owl grabbing his shoulders and the lion grabbing his feet. The lion and the owl weren’t able to save the Mum and the Dad. So from then on, the boy lived with the owl and the lion.
When the boy got older, his favourite thing in the world was a chair that he made from leaves. He called it a leaf pad and loved it more than anything else in the whole wide world. One day the lion went out and told the boy to stay behind. While the lion was out, the boy saw a light and thought ‘What is that? I think I might go and check…’ So he went out and stumbled across the lion fighting a hunter’s truck! The hunter was just about to shoot the lion but the boy jumped on the hunter’s gun. The boy took the gun and shot the hunter. Although he had a victory, the bullet missed the boy and the lion by only an inch! After they got back, the lion was furious and banned him from his leaf pad. The only thing the boy could do was hunt, but he was not always good at it. His victory with the hunter had only just been pure beginner’s luck. He needed to learn FAST!
While he was practising his hunting on a family of lizards, some hunters again passed by. This time, when they saw him, they used some nets to capture him and threw him in their truck. Then they drove away. While he was being driven away, he stole one of the hunter’s guns and shot them all down. Then he turned around to make his way back.
Meanwhile, at home, the owl and the lion were worried sick. They had already alerted all their friends of the unexpected disaster and had begun search parties. When the boy finally arrived back at the cave, and his friends arrived to find him there, they threw a fantastic party. All the jungle creatures were there, including snakes, rabbits, Shetland ponies, hedgehogs, foxes, tigers, bears, and some cheetahs. The Mr and Mrs Rabbit and their 563 kids’ favourite meal of the lot was rabbit. At the end of the party, the lion gave the boy back his leaf pad and said “You are so brave that you are old enough to go hunting all by yourself!!”
