Once Ahmed thought of going for a morning walk. As he started from home, he heard the thundering, but he took an umbrella and started walking towards the park. In a few minutes, it was overcast and though it was six o'clock, it became dark, as if it was middle of night. Nevertheless, he proceeded further and stopped near a tea stall. There was lightening and it struck the tree that was hardly at a foot's distance. Ahmed watched, aghast. With a gush of wind, a nest fell on the table of the tea stall. He looked at the nest, there were two tiny chicks of a sparrow. He thought if they were left there, it was sure that they won't survive.
It started raining; he thanked that he had taken the umbrella along. He took a carton from the tea stall, kept the nest in that carton and headed for home. When he reached home, his mother was surprised to see the nest and the chicks. She took them and placed near the hearth. Both the chicks were safe there.
Slowly they grew up. Ahmed daily gave them food and water and within two weeks they had grown wings. Ahmed felt sad at the thought that they would fly off once they take a flight which he supposed would come naturally to them. Slowly they started flying first to their cot, then closet and then on top of the door. Ahmed thought a lot and one fine day when he thought they could fly safely he went to the same park and left them there, for, he thought their mother must be waiting for them.
