                 Into the storm

It was a pleasant day of the summer as the wind was blowing from the South. Our exams ended a few days ago and we were excited to go on a trip to the Sundarbans.

We left for the trip at 11 a.m. in the morning. Me and my best friend Sukanta were going to this adventure without anyone's guidance. Our only companion was proved to be our friendship and loyalty towards each other.

We rented a boat from the local ferryman Shankar Majhi. He took a full 500 rupees to let it go with us.

The clock was striking 4 p.m. then. We were paddling. It passed a few hours with the views of charming beauty of the jungle. We could see some deer from the boat and obviously we took some captions of deer, birds, trees, river, crocodiles, fishes and of us.

Suddenly the weather was felt a little hotter than it was a few moments ago. It was obviously the destroyer Kal-Baishakhi of Bengal. The sky became dark and air started to blow so strong that we were unable to control the direction of our boat with paddles.

The boat moved fast towards the shore and after a minutes our boat ran into it. We were safe because of mud there- no harms done.

We were busy to find out if anyone of us was injured. In a sudden, Sukanta knocked my back with a gentle touch. Following his eyes, I could see the ferocious Royal Bengal Tiger with it's black and in a far with it's back towards us.

Sukanta said, "Don't get panic. We have to leave this island soon before it can smell us."

He jumped into the water and asked me to help him pull the boat into water. The storm was coming very hard at that time but we both realised- instead we become the meal of the tiger, let the storm kill us.

After a few tries with best efforts and losing some energy, we pulled the boat into water. Sukanta was drowned from head to toe. His clothes were wet.

We jumped up the boat with mudfaces and paddled a far. From the distance, we could see the tiger turning it's face to us.

Till today, I praise him for his bravery and courageous acts to save the day. I feel proud to have the best friend like him.
