"Unusual Beggar"
As soon as she walked in, she felt the tension. She was worried about her persentation which was about the beggar that she never paid attention to. She decided to find a real beggar and realized waht the life of beggars is really like.
In a busy subway station, an old man who wore shabby clothes was begging for money. It was about 10 o’clock in the morning. He was sitting on the ground, when she stood before him. The woman started at the old man for a while then she started to read the paper in front of the beggar. The paper was wrote by the old man in order to introduce the situation he met.
After that the woman said,”you can do some work insteal of begging money.”
The beggar looked at the woman and kept silence.
This kind of reaction made the woman a little disgusted.”You see,you are not a disabled person so you can do some physical work to support yourself”
“Because of my sickness which I wrote in the paper, I can’t find a job.” explained the old man.
“Even though I have never heard about that kind of sickness, you can go to the salvation management station to get some food,”said the woman,”Begging is stealing money from the people who have sympathy.”
“I’m not a thielf!” argued the old man.
But in my eyes, you are. I think you should feel ashamed for defrauding people of money.” said the woman.
The old man lowered his head and did not explain anything, while the woman went away from him.
The woman thought that the old man earned money by reaping without sowing. She had always decided the topic of her presentation.
While she waited for the subway, she noticed that the old man was walking towards her.
“What do you want to do, beg money again?” asked the woman.
” I came here to return your purse,Madam,”said the beggar. The woman saw her purse in the beggar’s hand and the beggar passed the purse to her.She opened the purse and found her $1,000 dollars was still in the purse. She couldn’t believe the beggar’s action.
” Why do you return the purse to me? There’s a lot of money in this purse!” said the woman.
“I told you, Madam, I am not a thief,” said the beggar,” I can accept donations but I still have self-respect.”
The woman was shocked by the old man.She was lost in thought about the old man’s behavior and decided to change the topic of her persentation.
