The garden gate creaked open.She looked up and saw a haggard looking old man. The old man had tattered clothes, long finger nails, and a sad face. He motioned to her to give him food by pointing his belly.
Cassie was not sure if she should give him food or not. She contemplated chasing the odd looking stranger away. She then remembered that her parents had taught her to be kind.
She quickly went to the kitchen and brought him a bowl of rice and chicken.The man gobbled down the food in haste and asked for water.
Cassie watched silently as the old man licked his fingers in delight.
The old man went into his leather pouch and produced a very large diamond.
"This is for you Cassie, thanks for your kindness",the old man said.
Cassie was petrified. Goosebumps started appearing on her skin and she was so shaken. Thousands of questions swirled in her mind.
The old man thanked her profusely and he told her to keep the diamond safe.
He then went out of the gate and vanished into the night from whence he had came.
