Another fact is that the Mariner 2 was the first spacecraft to visit and study Venus. Furthermore like our moon, Venus has phases as seen by Earth’s viewers. Phases are when an object appears to be changing shape, but really is not! It just depends on the sun’s light. Another fact that you may not know is that Venus’s atmosphere contains a lot of carbon dioxide, and only a little bit of oxygen. Rock is what Venus’s surface is mostly made of. My last fact about this subject is that Venus does not have known life, since anyway, it doesn’t have the conditions to support life.

If you didn’t know, Venus is the second farthest planet from the sun, the distance from the sun is 67,230,000 miles (108,200,000 km). it is between our Earth, (third planet from the sun) and Mercury (closest planet from the sun). It’s also the sixth largest planet out of the eight planets (not counting Pluto).

When Venus was seen in the morning before the sun came up, people called it the “morning star”, and when it was seen at night, they called it the “night star”. People thought that Venus was two separate pieces because of that (but we now know that it is only one piece). Long ago, the Mayan people who lived in Central America, thought that the sun’s brother was Venus. Also, back then, people thought that the mother of the gods was Venus. So, in Venus’s honor, they made multiple temples. People’s ideas between then and now have changed significantly.
WHAT LESSONS HAS VENUS TAUGHT US?
Venus acts like a greenhouse. That means that it keeps hot air in no matter what the temperature is outside. Or in its case, in space. Some scientists think that the same thing is happening to Earth!
