Procrastination is thief of time.

The sound of birds singing woke John from his bed. He was hesitating to get up, but he had to go to school as he had a project submission on that particular day. John didn’t complete his project and, this wasn’t the first time he hadn’t submitted his project on time.

He got up from his bed; brushed, bathed and ate breakfast. He was sure that this time his teacher would take this issue to the principal and, he might even get few days of detention from school. John entered the classroom and found that everyone submitted their project.

Teacher asked, ‘Submit your project, John.’ Teacher knew that John hadn’t completed his project, but to encourage him she asked him, ‘Did you have any problem yesterday since you weren’t able to complete the project?’ With a polite tone.

John was startled to see his teacher remained calm even though he hadn’t finished his work. John replied, ’I had a serious headache the other night and I couldn’t complete the work.’

‘See John, everyone in the class had submitted, and you are the only person who did not submit. You should complete your work well in advance, anticipating problems.’ Her voice was still neutral.

‘Sorry teacher, I will complete it as soon as possible.’

‘Are you asking for an extension?’

Hesitatingly he said, ‘Yes, Mamm…’ his voice trailed off.

‘I have faced the same scenario with you in earlier projects and, you never stick to your commitment.’

‘This time I will stick to my word and submit the project tomorrow for sure.’

‘Ok, on one condition I will give you an extension.’

‘What is it?’ he asked the teacher in an excited manner.

‘You have to submit the past two project reports along with the present one.’ She gave a pause and again said, ‘Tomorrow!’

‘Tomorrow?’

‘Yes, Tomorrow.’ Her voice was firm.

‘If I had completed my projects on time I would never have been burdened with lot of work at the same time.’ John spoke in his mind.

Our work should never be procrastinated. If we procrastinate then one day all the work will be piled up and it will be a burden to complete them.
