* * * * I just returned from a space journey, but instead of traveling aboard the Enterprise, I had a multiple ride on the Dujaki, the Ky, and the Ippera. These are the main ships involved in this most interesting war between the Wysotti and the Doyon. Three characters served me as guides in this adventure: Darq, a remarkable pilot who doesn't believe in miracles and whose actions will decide the future of her people (or if they'll have any future at all); Konuris Ippera, a Doyon high officer whose honor and loyalty are conflicted with his current condition, and Tokoray, an automaton struggling with an undeserved sort of stigma, just a Darq is. This story doesn't have the classic villain and that's very appealing. All characters have their shares of good and bad, just like real people do. Action scenes did manage to keep me glued to the seat, although I wouldn't say action is the main thing you'll get from this story. I also found intrigue and thinking with a lot of tribal scents - a mix of North American and Mayan- which I think adds an original touch. Overall it's an entertaining experience with a clear message and a nice ending. –Al Diaz
* * * * * In a future universe, Darq, a talented pragmatic star fighter pilot with a finely honed instinct for survival, battles to save the Wysotti home world from the dreaded Doyons. The interstellar battles come to life and the societies that battle for dominance become very real through the magic of the author's prose. Darq, a true warrior, never shirking from her duty to defend her homeland, uses every resource available to delay what she sees as her inevitable death in battle. As the Doyon threat draws ever closer, and the Wysotti forays become more and more desperate, Darq confronts the reality of myths and miracles, which she finds harder to face than death itself.– By Dixie
