POLLUTION IN FLOWERS

My daughter asked me how flowers will turn up to fruits and I told her about pollution by giving her the following points.

● Pollination is one of the important process that occurs in sexual reproduction of a flower.

● If flowers are unisexual most of the flowers wait for pollination and this process occurs only through agents like wind or insects.

● Hence flowers with the nectar call insects and attract them with the sweets smell of the nectar and when the insects land on the flowers pollen grains get attached to body of insects and when they are transferred into other flower pollination occurs.

Reproduction in flowers occurs through pollination and then it involves in the fertilization process and then it develops into a seed or flower

• The pollen is transferred from the male part of the flower or plant to the female part of the flower or plant

• Pollination can be of two types cross pollination or self-pollination

Self-pollination is that pollen grains are transferred from the male to female in the same plant itself

Cross pollination occurs in transfer of pollen from one plant to another plant either a flower or a plant

• Pollination is mainly carried out by insects there are many pollinating agents and these help
