Answer:
The Greedy Monkey
Once upon a time, there was a greedy monkey. He always used to steal other animals' food in the jungle. The animals were fed up with this. The opossum said, 'This monkey steals our hard-earned food. Because of him, sometimes I don't have enough food to feed my family.' The toucan said, 'You are right, dear opossum. But he is very strong. He will crush us if we resist this behaviour and stand up to him.' All the other animals agreed. They couldn't do anything about this because the monkey was the strongest herbivore of the jungle. The other monkeys were scared of him and each day they had to go hungry because the monkey took most of their food and they had very little food to eat. One day, the animals found pieces of food scattered here and there. They suspected foul play and did not go near it. But the greedy monkey saw the food and immediately gathered it and ate it greedily. The other animals watched in disgust as he ate. But what the animals, including the monkey, didn't know was that the food was having small doses of sedatives. They were planted by poachers to capture animals and illegally sell them to people. The monkey soon fell asleep right on the spot. All the other animals left, thinking that he fell asleep because he ate a lot. Soon, the poachers came and were shocked to see just one monkey on the spot because they hoped to capture more two or three monkeys. But since he was very big and strong, the poachers thought he would have a bigger price than a normal monkey and put him in a cage. Soon, after the monkey woke up, he was astonished to see himself somewhere far away from the jungle. Then, a person saw him and asked the seller how much the monkey cost. After bargaining a bit, the buyer bought the monkey. He was, in fact, a circus ringman and very cruel to the animals in his circus. He was delighted to have a monkey in his circus. But he treated him very cruelly and the monkey regretted being greedy. But back in the jungle, the animals guessed what happened and were ecstatic. But they were also sad because now the monkey was in captivity and they felt very bad for him.
