story writing a drive in the night
Answers
Night Drive is about a girl named Madge Haley who had to drive down Colchester road to see her husband. The drive is sketchy, because just months before Mr. Tabor's wife had been gruesomely murdered on Colchester Road. Another murder had occurred more recently too so when Mr. Tabor ironically called to have Madge take his niece with, and due to the situation Madge didn't hesitate in doing so. Along the ridge Madge gets uneasy especially after she realized Eunice wasn't actually a girl at all. she suspected Eunice was going to kill her so she drove frantically. relieved to see bob from Bob from the filling station with a flipped bike she pulled over. he needed help lifting his bike so Eunice offered. Madge was surprised when Eunice, who was actually Mr. Tabor disguised went back to kill his wife's murderer. Madge is unaware what truly happened, but she never seen bob again and after meeting Mr. Tabor later just to wave, he left town. The narrator giving insight on the past sets up suspense for the story later, "No woman liked to think about Mrs. Tabor before driving a car at night, alone. There was the other girl too" (Jenkins Sensory imagery was used most when seeking to Eunice establishing Madge's fear, '"Why" said Madge brightly, and gasped for breath every word 'Why- you speak- as if someone- planned to kill me" (Jenkins 6). At this point the reader new if Eunice was the murderer he would understand that he is been caught and try to act out.1). Jenkins sets up the background to fore shadow maybe she will be killed, or at least a target.Madge is just a normal person that is taking a normal night drive to See her husband, "There's no motive for the man to kill that particular woman rather than the other"(Jenkins 3). This statement makes you feel for Madge simply because she never did anything to deserve and chance of death. she is just like anyone who read the story, innocent. The story slowly develops on the ride because of things that Eunice tell Madge, "Mrs. Tabor was killed somewhere around here" (Jenkins 5). Eunice hinting towards the fact that she knows all this tempts the leader to believe that she (he) is the murderer.Through out the story the reader is left wondering what could happen to Madge, "She was going to drive over the highway which Mrs. Tabor had been killed a year before" (Jenkins 4). Now they are on the part of the road, in which it all went down, the question is what could happen
