Explanation:

A young girl named Ella was born into a poor family in a small country town of Victoria. For so many years Ella dreamed of celebrating Christmas like every other child more fortunate than her. She lived in a small house with her mother and father. Ella decorated their Christmas tree with pretty coloured bits of paper and unwanted ornaments she found. Lately she had been very excited as it was the festive season of Christmas.

It was Christmas Eve and Ella had one wish, something she had dreamed about for many years. To wake up on Christmas Day to find an amazingly large and beautifully decorated Christmas tree and many perfectly wrapped presents under it, but more importantly she wanted to celebrate Christmas with a lovely cooked roast turkey and pudding.

That night as Ella crawled into her rusty old bed, she prayed to have a Christmas like every other child more fortunate than her. That morning Ella woke to realise it was Christmas Day! As she tip toed out of her bed she was overwhelmed with excitement, however the thought of being disappointed again was quite possible. Lying underneath the tree was a gift. She carefully unwrapped the gift and it was a soft pink doll with bright blue buttons for eyes and a hand stitched red smile across its face. Ella held her doll close to her chest and adored her gift. She went into her mother’s bed and lay beside her, she could smell the natural sweet odour of her mum and showed her the gift. Her mother stroked Ella’s hair and kissed her softly on her cheek and wished she was able to give her daughter more. Ella drifted off to sleep again and felt happy.

Later on that day Ella and her parents shared a Christmas meal with a lovely succulent roast turkey and a sweet pudding for dessert.

This Christmas proved to Ella that dreams can come true!
