There was a moneylender who had more money than brain and his work was to give loans and take the money with a good amount of interest. One day, a young man decided to put an end to this money lender’s act of collecting hefty interest from people who borrowed money from him. He went to the money lender and asked him for a huge sum to start a business. He promised to repay the entire sum with the interest decided by the moneylender in a year. However, the young man also said that in the event the business failed, he would need extra time for the repayment. The moneylender agreed to the deal. A year passed and there was no sign of the young man repaying the money. When the moneylender approached him, he said that the business did not take off as expected. So, he was going to start a new business and wanted some more time to clear the debt. This went on for three years.

Finally, the moneylender demanded his money in a week’s time. The young man then approached the king of the land asking for justice. After hearing both sides, the king agreed that the right was on the young man. When the moneylender asked for an explanation, the king said that the repayment clause indicated repayment only if the business was successful. But, since there was no profit from the business, there was no need to make repayment. At this juncture, the young man said that he was ready to give back the entire money he had collected. He had done so only to teach the moneylender a lesson for collecting a hefty sum as interest from poor people. Now that the moneylender understood the value of his hard earned money, the young man requested him not to fleece poor people.
