When Punit woke up in the morning and looked at his faced in the mirror, he did not recognize the face looking back at him. "This is not me!”, he cried aloud. He had never seen that face ever in his life. The pointed nose, grey eyes, thin eyebrows, big protruding ears on both sides of his face, thick rough hair, and a big black mole on his left cheek were not the features of his face.
He thought hard to grasp the reality. “Had some magic changed his face?”, he weighed on a possibility. Then he rushed to his mother’s room to show her the strange change; to his shock, he found his mother’s face changed also. He asked her the reason behind the phenomenon. She also was unable to explain.
Panicked, both ran to the father who was in washroom; as he came out, the three of them were more shocked to see the change of the face in the father too. Three of them together stared at their changed faces in the mirror and felt helpless. Punit’s panic was the worst; he began crying at the unexplainable occurrence.
“Get up Punit; you are getting late for the school”, he heard the faint admonishing voice of his mother. “Get up you lazy twit”, he heard the voice again, this time more clearly. As he came to his full senses, he sat up on his bed, put aside the blanket and rushed to the mirror.
He heaved a deep sigh of relief. Smile appeared on his face; his face had not changed. He was just dreaming a nightmare.
At his face in the mirror he didn't recognised the face the face looking back at him.
