TITLE: The Lonely Road
I peeked at my watch. It was exactly 12 midnight. I had missed the last bus home and had been walking for almost an hour now. Thank god home was just a few kilometres away. Suddenly I heard what sounded suspiciously like soft whispers and footsteps. I spun around paranoid that someone was following me.This wasn't a good part of town but it had the shortest path leading home. I had been taking this path for a while and nothing had ever happened to me but my curfew was in twenty minutes and I needed to be home on time.
My parents had warned me not to travel on this road but I had dismissed their concerns with the thought that they were being over protective, I realised I should have listened to them. I heard footsteps behind me and fastened my gait hoping to outrun whoever was following me. The person started walking faster, I started running hoping that I could make it home safely. The person started running too and then I felt an arm come around me. I turned around screaming only to see in the dim light that it was my father. I sighed in relief and was almost in tears, all my father said was,"You should have listened to me and your mother."
From that day on wards, I never took that road again.
