"I will never give up"
I wasn't always afraid of the dark, as a matter of fact, I used to have a ridiculous amount of fun running around in the yard after dark.
That is, until we moved here, to the mountains.
At first, I thought it was just the nerves from anew place. The humans were continually reassuring me that everything was okay. They showed me my bed, my bowl and even my food was the same... but I knew that it wasn't the same. There was a feeling in the air that I didn't recognize. Not at first.
I thought I was just being a puppy about it all. I mean, come on, what was there to be scared of, really? A ghost? A shadow?
I thought I was protecting my humans, but it became apparent rather quickly that they were getting tired of my barking. My warnings weren't taken seriously. I tried to keep quiet, thinking I would just take care of the scary evil after they'd gone to sleep. They didn't have to appreciate me, they didn't even need to know at all, but I just knew, deep into my bones that it was my job to keep them safe. Could I help it that they didn't listen to me?
No. I couldn't help it. They scolded me every time I barked at the darkness. They couldn't see or feel what I could see. I sensed it, the evil that was trying to work it's way in through the cracks in the doorway as soon as the sun went down. Eventually the humans started locking me in my prison at night.
My humans didn't trust me any longer. I blame the evil. It got to them somehow. They didn't know what they were doing when they locked me away. I couldn't keep them safe while I was locked in my cage, I knew something was very very wrong that night.
It's been weeks now. The darkness has come and gone more times than I can count and my humans haven't been back. I stand here on the mountain top and wait for them to return, even though I haven't seen a sign of them for so long. I had to break out of my prison. I have searched for them every day until my legs could no longer hold me up. I have had to learn to hunt for food and still I wait for them to return.
I will never give up, I will never forget.

PLEASE MARK ME AS A BRAINLIST IF YOU THINK ITS HEPFUL
