Volume of 1 mole of a gas at STP = 22.4 liters

Given Mass of Sulphur= 32grams

Molecular Mass of SO2 = 1*32 amu (Sulphur) + 2*16 amu (Oxygen)

                                      =   32 + 32

                                       =  64 amu

Moles = Given mass/Molecular mass

           =  32/64

             = 1/2 moles

IF 1 mol at STP = 22.4 liters

THEN 1/2 moles at STP = 22.4/2 liters

                                       = 11.2 liters

Therefore at STP , 32 grams SO2 covers a volume of 11.2 liters
