if a straw is fixed on the surface of an inflated balloon and a thread is passed through the straw and the straw and balloon arrangement is fixed between walls A and B, when we remove the thread tied on the neck of the balloon, The straw moves in opposite direction of the air.
The straw moves in opposite direction because when air is released out of the balloon, it imparts momentum to the straw.

Blow up the balloon but do not tie it! While pinching the balloon so you don't let any air out, tape the balloon to the straw. Make sure the end of the balloon is facing you and not towards the other side of the room. Let go of the balloon and watch it fly!
