Answer:

The numbers of stray dogs are increasing in our big towns and cities. We have ignored this problem as a normal thing for a long time. But the problem of the increasing population of stray dogs is far from normal today and it is high time for the authorities to come up with remedial measures.

Stray dogs cause feces garbage on our localities. They are also responsible for many road accidents. Another serious danger from stray dogs is that they are not vaccinated and if we are bitten by them we may get infected with rabies which can even lead to lost of life if not treated immediately.

I believe that killing any stray dog by the public or with the help of the police is cruel and not the right approach. This comes under a criminal act of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

The stray dogs must be rounded up and kept in shelters. They should be vaccinated. There are lots of people who loves to keep pet dogs. So, they can be given to people who wanted to adopt them even by making payments.

Dogs are called man's best friend. They indeed are because of their faithfulness to their owners. Dogs are used by common people, the police and the army. Dogs are trained as therapy dogs to people suffering from mental health problems like hypertension, anxiety and depression. They are trained as service dogs to help people with different kinds of physical disabilities.

The government must allocate a special fund to take care of the stray dogs in shelters. In the program to rehabilitate stray dogs NGOs and animal rights activists can be involved.
