Let the speed of boat be (x-4) in upstream and (x+4) in downstream

s=d/t ,t= d/s

30/4= 7.5 hours

60/4= 15 hours

then the equation will be

7.5(x+4)=15(x-4)

7.5x + 30 +=15x - 60

+30+60=15x- 7.5x

90=7.5x

x=90/7.5

=12

answer is 12 kmph
