Shah jahan was the son of jahangir, his real name was khurram. He was born at lahore on 5th January, 1592 AD. The name of his mother was jagat gosai who was the daughter of Raja udai Singh of jodhpur. After the death of jahangir in 1627 ad, khurram was away from the capitol. Prince shahryar at the instance of Nurjahan proclaimed himself emperor at lahore with the help of Asaf Khan and mahawat Khan. Shahjahan became the king in 1628 AD. He was best known for his Deccan and foreign policies. He was a great builder and is known for the promotion of art, culture and architecture during his time.
