The force must be equal to the weight of book

  • When you hold the book in your palm the weight of the book will act downwards it is called as action [ its due to the gravitational force which will act on book]
  • To prevent the book's downward action we need to apply force to upwards as reactionary force.
  • If we apply force less than the weight of the book then book will fall due to the excessive gravitational force.
  • So the force we need to apply to prevent the book from falling must be equal to the weight of the book
