Adaptations are as follows:
1. The gills of bony fishes are covered by operculum
2. The bony fishes have air bladders in their body,therfore they can float in water without swimming
3. They have streamline body so that they can cut through the water and swim easily
4. They have nictitating membrane in their eyes which are water resistant
5. They show external fertilisation.
6. They have ctenoid or cycloid scales present on their body
7. They have external development
