Androecium represents the male reproductive structures and the gynoecium represents the female reproductive structures. Usually, in flowers androecium is arranged outer to gynoecium and gynoecium is the inner most part.

Structurally, androecium consists of stamens and gynoecium of carpels. The carpels may be free (apocarpous) or fused (syncarpous). Plants that have both androecium and gnoecium are bisexual and those that contain either of these are calle unisexual.
