The main function of pituitary gland lies in it's ability to make hormones that retain many of our bodily functions. Pituitary gland lies roughly in the center of the human skull.

Structure of pituitary gland - it is a pea - sized gland, located below the brain. It secretes several hormones, some of which regulate the activity of other endocrine glands. So the pituitary gland is also called the "master gland". It is composed of three lobes: anterior, intermediate, and posterior. Function : stimulates the thyroid gland to secrete thyroxine.
