Structure of lysosome :-
- They are membrane bound organelles and the area within the membrane is called the lumen .
- The lumen contains the hydrolytic enzymes and other cellular debris .
- The sizes of lysosomes typically range from 0.1 μm to 0.6 μm .
Function of lysosomes :-
- It breaksdown or digest macromolecules like carbohydrates , lipids , proteins and nucleic acids .
- It repairs cell membranes and respond against foreign substances such as bacteria , virus , etc...
- It contain enzymes that break down the macromolecules and foreign invaders .
